My reflection on the 1st lecture

The lecture we attended about TECHNOLOGY IN LANGUAGE TEACHING was interesting and useful for us as English teachers, because it gives information about the history of  technology in language teaching  and how technology advancements can help us on the transmission and pedagogy of language .

It is highlighted how the phonograph, audio cassettes, and later, interactive multimedia, transformed language teaching from text-based methods to more communicative approaches. With the introduction of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and web-enhanced language learning (WELL), technology has become inseparable from the learning process, offering a wide range of resources and activities that engage multiple linguistic skills. These advancements also redefine the roles of teachers and learners, fostering greater collaboration and continuous feedback.

From my experience ,comparing the time when we were students and we did not have the opportunity to use digital devices and equipment and now as a teacher too, technology not only enriches the learning experience but also bridges the gap between education and real-world social and professional contexts.

For us,working as teachers, technology can help  think about different strategies or ways of organising the lesson in order to make it more attractive ,interactive ,engaging and effective.

On the other hand, teachers need to be trained and updated with the new developments of technology, because language education is changing and evolving and we have to empower students by fostering engagement and motivation.

  8. This blog offers a perceptive analysis on the development of technology in language instruction. It's amazing to observe how the phonograph and audio cassettes helped to create the foundation for more contemporary teaching strategies like CALL and WELL, which have revolutionised education. You make an excellent point regarding how technology might help close the gap between classroom instruction and real-world situations, particularly in the current digital era. I also concur that although technology enhances the interactiveness and engagement of lessons, teacher preparation is essential to stay up to date with these developments. The key to encouraging student enthusiasm and involvement is striking the correct balance. Excellent writing!
